Kosmas for Windows
DownloadKosmas
The desktop app for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. Free, installs without administrator rights and syncs with the web when you sign in with Discord.
System requirements
- System
- Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- Disk space
- About 294 MB for the installer, a little more once installed. Local AI is optional and needs roughly 2–20 GB more for models, depending on your graphics card. Speech recognition on NVIDIA cards also downloads about 1.5 GB of CUDA libraries once. Paid AI services need no extra space.
- Graphics card
- Any. An NVIDIA card makes local speech recognition fast; without one, use the processor (slow) or a paid AI service.
- Rights
- No administrator rights: Kosmas installs for your Windows user only.
- Internet
- For sign-in, sync with the web and downloading AI models. Your catalog works offline.
Install
Five steps, about two minutes.
Download
Download the installer from the button above (
Cosmas-Setup-1.2.0.exe). Get it only from this page or from the gingygames/kosmas releases on GitHub.Run it
The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Install
Choose the language, tick whether you want a desktop shortcut and click Install. Windows won’t ask for administrator rights.
First run
Kosmas starts when the installer finishes. It finds your Medal recordings on its own; add OBS, ShadowPlay or any other folder in the library. When you first transcribe, choose where AI runs.
Sign in with Discord
To sync with the web, click Sign in: your browser opens gingygames.com, you allow the app and that’s it. There are no tokens to copy.
What the installer does
Everything stays inside your Windows user profile.
Program
Installs to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Kronikarfor your user only.Shortcuts
Adds Kosmas to the Start menu, and to the desktop if you tick it.
Your data
Catalog, thumbnails, transcripts and downloaded models live in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Kronikar. Your videos stay where they are.Old name
The folders keep the app’s former name, Kronikář, so updates over older installs keep working.
Update
Download the new version from this page and run it. It replaces the program and keeps your data. If Kosmas is running, the installer closes it first.
Uninstall
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Kosmas → Uninstall. At the end it asks whether to delete your catalog too. The answer is No unless you choose Yes, so a later install brings everything back. Your video files are never deleted.
No Windows PC?
The web version runs in any modern browser. It’s an early alpha without the heavy desktop features, but your chronicle is the same.
